App Store screenshot sizes & Google Play exports

Choose an iPhone, iPad, or Android export preset, understand the store slots, and check your files before uploading.

The export canvas is the file you submit to the store. A device mockup inside that canvas can be smaller, tilted, or shared across neighboring screens. Changing the mockup does not change the exported file dimensions.

Choose an export preset

These dimensions come directly from AppStaged's export registry. They describe what the editor exports, not every size accepted by either store.

Which App Store slot should I use?

For an iPhone set, start with the 6.9-inch preset. Apple lists 1320 × 2868 and 1290 × 2796 among the accepted portrait dimensions for that slot. AppStaged's “alternate” preset belongs to the same slot; it is not a second required upload. The 6.5-inch set is required when you do not provide 6.9-inch screenshots. For an app that runs on iPad, prepare an iPad set too.

Apple also lists other device families and sizes. Check the slots available for your app against Apple's screenshot specifications before submission. This guide covers AppStaged's current presets; it is not a complete device-support list.

Google Play: start with the target device

Use the Play phone preset for a portrait phone listing and review a tablet composition separately when your app supports tablets. The table shows the actual pixel dimensions of each AppStaged preset. Device-specific requirements and promotional eligibility can differ: a file passing a basic dimension check does not guarantee that it qualifies for every placement.

Review Google Play's preview-asset requirements for your supported device types. A feature graphic is a separate asset; a phone screenshot does not replace it.

Resize the composition, not just the image

An iPhone layout is taller relative to its width than an iPad layout. A caption that fits on the phone can overlap the device on a tablet. In AppStaged, preview each selected target and check the headline, device crop, callouts, and any elements spanning two screens.

For example, a three-screen story might show the main outcome first, a useful feature second, and the next step third. On a wider tablet canvas, reposition the device and give the caption its own space rather than stretching the phone image. Use real captures from the corresponding app experience.

Export and check before uploading

  1. Upload your raw app captures and finish the captions and layout. The quickstart walks through the editor.
  2. Open the store preview and check that the important text is readable at listing size.
  3. Choose the relevant preset in Export. Studio exports one size at a time; paid plans add batch sizes and localization. See plan details.
  4. Download PNG or JPEG files. Inspect the dimensions of an actual exported file, then check its crop and text at full resolution.
  5. Review each language separately: translated captions can need more space. Check ordering and missing captures before uploading.
  6. Upload to the matching store slot, or follow Publishing to stores if your plan includes connected publishing. Review the store's final preview before submitting.
